U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss Picks Up FairTax Book

U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss says he’ll be reading The FairTax Book shortly.

Of course, as the sponsor of the Senate version of the FairTax bill, he already knows what to expect.

From an article by Camie Young in the Gwinnett Daily Post:

U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss can’t quite keep it straight.

“Is it John (Linder) or Neal Boortz that represents you?” he said of Gwinnett [county] during a visit to the Daily Post’s office last week.

It’s a little confusing lately since the two get double-billing as the best-selling authors of “The FairTax Book.”

But of course, the senator knows all about U.S. Rep. John Linder’s proposal to do away with the Internal Revenue Service in favor of a national sales tax.

Chambliss is the sponsor of the Senate version of the FairTax bill.

“But I give John all the credit. John is the godfather of the FairTax idea in the House,” he said.

The book has only been out for about two weeks but it has already topped the Amazon.com and New York Times bestseller lists.

On Thursday, Chambliss said he hadn’t read the book yet. But he was planning on picking up a copy from the congressman from Duluth that night.

“I’m flying to Russia tomorrow, and I’ll have something to read on the plane.”
