Videos on Taxes, Economics, and Liberty
As a new contributor for The Fair Tax Blog, I’d like to first offer up a few favorite video links discussing tax and economic issues, I’ll add to this post if anyone posts other links in comments or via trackback. You can also email me at highlander ‘at’ dangerousliberty.com.
Like Jerry Lawson, I’m Joe Average computer programmer with an HS diploma (and a handful of college credits). I have learned a great deal in my life by reading and by discussing a broad spectrum of issues with those who agree and disagee with me.
I believe junking the income tax is a moral imperative, for income is compensation for hours of our lives and the productivity of our genius — and that means income is very much traded for hours of our lives. It is therefore akin to endentured servitude or slavery to tax my life. I’m not anti-taxation, but I’m opposed to any policy which makes individuals defacto slaves to the state, without their consent. I’ll write more about this moral imperative in a later post.

Neal Boortz on CSPAN’s Washington Journal, August 2005
Neal is in high form on this appearance. CSPAN has some of the worlds dumbest callers, it was a hoot watching him tell an Atlanta caller, who wanted Neal to tell the wider audience how much he hated democracy, that he was sorry the caller didn’t like what the founders said, didn’t like what the constitution said and blamed his government schooling. He quoted Franklin: “Democracy is two wolves and a sheep, voting on what’s for dinner” (I believe Franklin went on to add “Liberty is when the Sheep is armed”)
Charles Adams on Booknotes, May 1993
Adams discusses his book, For Good and Evil: The Impact of Taxes on the Course of Civilization. It gives one a good overview of taxation over human history. Adams was teaching college world history and noticed taxes coming up again and again, and found little written about it, so he spent 20 years writing this book.
