Introduction, Endorsements of the FairTax

August 29, 2005  ·  Filed under: Media Citings, Public Support

This is my first post here. I am honored to be joining the other accomplished bloggers on this site about the Fair Tax.

As a brief introduction, my name is KJ. You can get a basic background about me here. I have a blog called No Government Cheese. I also co-founded the group blog Conservative Bloggers Who Support The Gay Judge Roberts.

In the non-blogger world I am a litigation attorney. My job is to protect the man and maintaining the status quo. I usually represent professionals, including other lawyers, self-insured companies and insurance companies. I know what transactions costs are all about. I am a toll on the road of justice. The current tax system is a classic, inefficient transaction cost on the efficient funding of the Federal government.

Recent Endorsements Of The Fair Tax

Jan Larson, a contributing columnist at The Conservative Voice, favorably discussed the Fair Tax yesterday. His discussion largely focuses on what is wrong with the current tax system, and touches upon the advantages of the Fair Tax.

As you have read here already, any tax system can be criticized. The primary issue is whether an alternative system produces better results. Clearly, the IRS system of income taxation does not work well. The focus of anyone’s discussion should be what is the best alternative.

On August 21, 2005, the Gwinnett Daily Post, a newspaper in one of the largest Atlanta suburbs, seemed to endorse the Fair Tax. You be the judge:

To dismantle the behemoth IRS is akin to raising the Titanic - both have been mired for generations. And this, despite FairTax popularity from sea to shining sea, is why it can’t get off the ground in D.C. Maybe the book will get things rolling. We can only hope.

Finally, on Saturday, blogger Ron Port at Wizbang announced his support for the Fair Tax, stating:

That aside, though, this book has converted me. Before reading it I the only thing I was certain about with regard to this country’s tax system was that what we have now just isn’t working. Now I’m a FairTax backer.

I will attempt to contribute nearly as much substance to this site as the more accomplished bloggers with whom I work. Feel free to write us with questions or comments, or use the comments on the posts. To achieve the major policy shift necessary to pass the Fair Tax, the people will need to be educated.
