Herman Cain: Use FairTax to Avoid Economic Disaster

Herman Cain, who has written before on the value of the FairTax, has published a new column titled “Prevent an Economic Disaster” which addresses the economic crisis that could be looming if politicians don’t do their part to streamline the American economy:

The immediate, national outpouring of support for victims of Hurricane Katrina makes us proud of our nation and her compassionate citizens. But the rapid shock felt around the country at the gas pump accentuated our vulnerability to negative long-term economic effects, which Congress has yet to adequately address. Whereas Hurricane Katrina was an uncontrollable natural disaster, we can prevent an imminent economic disaster.

He then goes on to discuss the importance of increasing our domestic supply of oil, pass a national retail sales tax, and restructure the Social Security system.
