FairTax Drops to #7
The FairTax bible drops to #7 on the September 25th New York Times Best-Seller List for hardcover nonfiction. Is this important? What do we need to do?
The World is Flat and Freakonomics are certainly achieving better longevity. The World is Flat has been in the top three for 23 weeks. Freakonomics never made it to #1, but it has ranked between #2 and #6 for 22 weeks. I have read both books and they truly are more interesting than The FairTax Book. Nothing against Boortz—look at his topic, tax reform.
OK, so is this important? Yes, I think it is.
Our economy has a cancer that discourages productivity and drives corporations oversees. Wise business decisions are doctored to pursue tax strategies. Blinder wearing CFO’s focus on tax issues and miss opportunities for growth. Entire sectors of the economy are expended on counting, recounting, collecting, and avoiding taxes. Boortz and Linder provided us with a Scalpel of Understanding that enables us to reform tax law and save our patient—The Unites States of America.
Realists recognize that clarification, transparency, and simplification of the tax code will clear the fog and eliminate the ignorance that allows lawmakers to seize larger and larger portions of our harvest. Congress will only release this advantage when we pry it from their cold dead fingers. They’re right. Congress runs on power and money—in that order. If they lose their [re]election, they’ll lose their power. Make FairTax reform their only option to retain electability, and they’ll grasp it like a life ring in shark invested waters.
OK, so what do we do? Spread the word.
Yea, but the book has dropped to #6, is that important? Yes and no.
Spreading the word is of utmost importance. Pass your copy on to your friends and then discuss the issues. Contact your congressmen and women. Top positioning on the New York Times Best-Seller list helps the movement by maintaining visibility in book stores and the press. More importantly, it puts fear into the eyes and minds of congress. The clear and simple virtues of the FairTax Reform will win acceptance on its own merits, but we must get the stubborn donkey’s attention. Top positioning helps get that attention.
OK, so how do we do it? Buy more copies and pass them out.
In late August, the WAFairTax discussion group came up with the suggestion to donate books to libraries. John Linder has also commented that many of his fellow law makers are asking him where all the copies of the books are coming from. Well, these are two great places for the books. Buy copies for your library and Representatives. Get the word out and keep the book in the public eye.
