A New Rebuttal to William Gale’s Tax Notes Article

Quadrupole just tipped me off that he has written a conceptual rebuttal of William Gale’s article in the May 2006 issue of Tax Notes, in which Gale argued that the tax rate would have to be much higher than 23% in order to be revenue neutral.

Quadrupole’s conclusion:

Basically, Gale artificially reduces the tax base by shifting GDP from consumption to investment.

See his full discussion for more.

I was told many months ago that AFFT had prepared a formal rebuttal as well, but I’ve been too out of the loop to know if/where they have made that available.
