Money Talks

August 15, 2006  ·  Filed under: Activism

I’m looking at websites of front running candidates for Florida Governor and the Senate Seat. One does not mention the Fair Tax and the other states that more study is needed.

I’m thinking about writing them a letter or sending in a Fair Tax book. If they don’t support the Fair Tax, there is no obligation for them to respond to my letter–it will just end up in the trash. I know they don’t have time to read the Fair Tax Book during the campaign. So, what do I do?

If I do send a Fair Tax Book, I’ll register it with BookCrossing.com so maybe I can see where it ends up. I’m listing all my FairTax books on BookCrossing.com!

There is only one thing that I can think of that the campaign office will really pay attention to — “Green Backs.” Money Talks, everything else walks. What if I send in $5 with a note or something that says it is Fair Tax money? I just wish there was a note that would follow the bill all the way to the bank. I could use WheresGeorge.com to see if the bill ever shows up again. Even better, I’ll send those freaky $2 bills. Yes, the banks still have them–and I can get two and a half Jefferson’s for each Lincoln.

So, I have to decide, should I send a FairTax Book, (Only $8.70 at FairTaxScorecard.com) or should I send five $2.00 FairTax.org bills? If I can reach five people instead of one, maybe I should do that. If 1,000 of us send in a two dollar Fair Tax bill, at least the campaign cashier will have to spend the afternoon logging and counting Fair Tax money! A stunt like this will get the candidate’s attention.

The Fair Tax is a really good idea so I think I’ll do both. I’ll record my actions with WheresGeorge.com and BookCrossing.com.

  2. Actually, I do have a stamp. Mine says “FairTax.org” and then has a second line in small print “Track me at WheresGeorge.com” and I got it for under $10.

When I enter a bill into WheresGeorge.com, I put “Stamped with FairTax.org” or Stamped with FairTax.org and WheresGeorge.com” depending on which stamp I use.

WheresGeorge.com and BookCrossing.com are two sites that FairTaxers can use along with their curring stamping or book circulation activities.

  3. I run bills through my printer (carefully!). No need to spend money on a stamp, if you don’t mind the extra effort. Download my stamp file fairtaxgeo.doc at FairTaxGroups.com.

  4. Actually, Several Florida Senate Campaign website mentions that the candidate supports the Fair Tax. William McBride has the best chance of winning. He’s polling almost neck and neck with Katherine Harris. His website is http://www.mcbrideforsenate.com I’m planning on donating to his campaign if I can afford it. Peter Monroe’s website also says he is onboard with the Fair Tax. Katherine Harris has said behind closed doors that she supports it, but has not officially announced it yet.
