The FairTax initiative purports to be nonpartisan and appears to resonate with both democrats and republican voters at the grass roots level. As an independent voter, it makes a lot of sense to me. However, per my review of the FairTax scorecards, support on capitol hill and among presidential candidates is almost entirely republican. Why is that?
The Democratic Party, in general, believes that the tax code is a tool for social engineering. By manipulation of the tax code they hope to re-distribute wealth.
I note that Marx in the Communist Manifesto stated that a income tax was a necessary part for party success.
Fairtax has a massive second tier of taxation, hidden.
Goole Fairtax hidden tax.
