Install Disqus commenting system?

December 30, 2010  ·  Filed under: Site Announcements

Would you guys like threaded comments? If so, I can install the Disqus commenting system, as I’ve done at Mudita Journal. (You won’t see many threaded comments there yet, since most of the comments are imported from the old commenting system. But any of the new comments on the right sidebar had the option of being threaded.)

Let me know, below, in the comments.

  1. Josh,

Could you provide an English translation of your post for us old Luddites?

  2. Stephen, Threaded comments means anyone can engage anyone else directly, rather than replying in general to all. The threaded replies are indented, making it easy to track sub-discussions.

Take a look at this Mashable page, which has the commenting system on the bottom.

  3. Josh,

I think that’s an awesome idea. It makes threads a lot easier to follow.

  4. I’m for it, it will clean up the discussion and make it easier to follow.

  5. I would welcome such a change. Is it possible to allow the users to also sort the comments chronologicially too?
I belong to a forum which allows the user to choose between sorting chronologically (flat) or indented. I find both usesful. For instance, if I’m new to a thread in progress (more than say 10 or so responses), i will view it indented so I am able to follow the side discussions. But if the thread is quite long and I have been following all along, then it’s very difficult to find the new commments as they come in without scanning the entire thread if it’s displaced in the indented format so I would switch to flat (or chronological).
